Reading Remediation and Enrichment Programs

As part of its training program for teacher candidates, Mount Saint Mary College conducts courses periodically throughout the year, which require that the college students work individually with elementary aged children to develop their reading skills. Programs for both reading remediation and enrichment, involving one-on-one tutoring and small group sessions, are normally held for six to ten weeks in the fall and again in the spring. Weekend programs are also being developed that will focus specifically on assessing individuals and developing strategies to help students become successful readers.
