Art - Mrs. DelConte

Every child is an artist. The problem is to remain an artist once they grow up.
~Pablo Picasso

Students will be introduced to Art History, famous artists and create various projects that encourage their individual self-esteem and bolster confidence as they learn to value the arts.

Cross curriculum projects are developed periodically.

New York State Standards for Art Education in the elementary school are as follows:

1. Students will actively engage in the processes that constitute creation.
2. Students will be knowledgeable about and make use of materials available.
3. Students will respond critically to a variety of works of art (age relevant).
4. Students will develop an understanding of the personal and cultural forces that shape artistic communication and how art, in turn, shapes the diverse cultures of past and present.
