An Oz. of Prevention
Dear Bishop Dunn Parents/Guardians,
Bishop Dunn Memorial School began a number of Health and Wellness initiatives with internal staffing (Ms. Twomey, Mrs. Perk & Mrs. Kaknis) and representatives from An Ounce of Prevention two years ago. Goals included increasing awareness about common health, wellness, and safety issues to benefit the children and families of Bishop Dunn.
Response to these programs was very positive and well received by many. With your help, the administration, school nurse and teachers would like to provide a healthier and productive school environment by endorsing an active Hand Hygiene program at our school. Research has shown that when schools endorse and follow good hand hygiene procedures, the number of school days missed by children and work days missed by parents dramatically declines.
We are asking parents to please contribute an estimated 12-15 cents per school day toward this great cause. Below is a participation form and request that you contribute $7.50 dollars per child for the first half of the year to assist in covering the costs for dye-free, perfume-free hand alcohol wipes to be placed in every classroom. Inventory will be assessed in December and based on volume usage/needs; an additional request may be made in January. This particular product has been shown to be more effective and safer for school environments compared to hand sanitizing gel products, and is the number one used product by pediatricians.
Thank you for your on-going support.
Sincerely,
Maureen Terwilliger, Dir. of Development
